Trying all types of new things with my photography.. sometimes you have to mix it up even if the results are not perfect to see what comes out on the other side.

Rimaj.... BTS Dance Shoot

Rimaj sat down on the couch at the end of the dance shoot and I loved how the natural light shined on his face. The light lasted about 2 minutes before the light was gone. I took one quick shot and said "wow Rimaj don't move". I reframed the shot so his shadow would show on the bright part of the wall and his face would be on the shadow side of the wall. I really like the high contrast and the look of Rimaj. This is one of my favorite shots of the day. The lighting and equipment is fun to have but I always enjoy when I can capture a portrait with natural light.

When shooting this shot I was going for a warrior look. Rimaj always does a great job at giving me the look that I need.
Lighting setup: One Light Setup

Sb-900 shot through a Lastolite Hot Shoe EZYBOX Softbox Kit - 15x15" (38x38cm)
To trigger  flash I used PocketWizard FlexTT5 Transceiver Radio Slave for Nikon i-TTL Flash System. On camera I used the PocketWizard MiniTT1 Radio Slave Transmitter for Nikon i-TTL System also the Nikon SU-800 Wireless Speedlight Commander Unit / USA to control the power of  flash from my camera. The Model is standing about 4 feet from the background. I wanted him away from background so I could have a shallow DOF and blur the background and have the model stand out. The lens was the Nikon 85MM f/1.4 shot at f/5.6. The one light was enough to light the model and the background.

Grace & Renee

This was a dance shoot at first but we walked by this cool alley way and the creative juices started to kick in for a portrait. If you would like to learn a little about the lighting setup please go to my flickr site  RSflashdog. RSflashdog lighting setup Grace & Renee

Fekia & Sean

This was a shoot that developed as the day progressed. I received an e-mail a couple days before the shoot from Fekia asking about doing a shoot that she would be dressed a little on the masculine side. I thought that would be a great look. I asked both Sean and Fekia to coordinate wardrobe so they would look good together and they did a great job. At the shoot Fekia said " I think a cigar would really make the shoot" WOW was she right. So we went to the local Cigar shop in Manayunk called SMOKE and bought some cigars and spoke with Sam who was working that day. I explained that we had a photo shoot going on at my studio and mentioned that this would be a great place to move the shoot because the space just looked great. Sam said sure no problem!!

This was a quick set of shots we took while waiting for hair and makeup to be completed for another model. Sean and Armida quickly came up with a lot of poses that I think look great.
